The Rangers are now back to within 2.5 games of Oakland in the AL West by beating the A's 4-0 today. Derek Holland produced another dominant performance, and the Rangers got to A.J. Griffin just often enough to come out with a win.

Furthermore, today was one of the better displays of overall defensive expertise the Rangers have displayed in awhile, a great sign for a team that was left for dead only a week ago. It's always great when the ball club can win a series against the team ahead of them in the division, but more than that, the Rangers gain the confidence of knowing they can hang with the best.

There's still the looming potential suspension of Nelson Cruz, as word is now trickling down that we should have more information by tomorrow. Until then, the Rangers will enjoy another day of success.
