The Texas Rangers are now within 1.0 game of the AL West division-leading Oakland Athletics by beating the Angels 8-3.

Yu Darvish struggled early, settled in nicely, and kept his team in the game. In the meantime, the Rangers had perhaps their best game on the bases this season, and backed it up with a defensive clinic in the field.

The Rangers have now beaten the Angels six straight times, and while this game was close coming down the stretch, the Rangers pulled away with timely execution and smart baserunning.

One is left to wonder if Matt Garza was reacting the same in the dugout as he was against Oakland over the weekend when "small ball" beat the Rangers. Oh, and Elvis Andrus has been on a tear since the All-Star break. This team, with or without Nelson Cruz, is a lot of fun to watch right now.
