Cole Hamels allowed a run in 6 innings, the offense scored 8 times, and the Rangers finished off the sweep in Oakland on Thursday afternoon. Texas is now 14 games over .500 for the first time this season, +3.5 games up on Houston in the West, and shaved its magic number down to 7.

Today was a good day.

The Rangers now travel to Houston for a pivotal weekend series. Aided by 7 home games to close out the regular season -- while the Astros finish with 6 on the road -- Texas couldn't have asked for a better scenario to end the year on.
