Rangers (70-62) outlast Padres

It was a long, ugly series in San Diego, but when the dust settled the Rangers found themselves extra-inning winners on Wednesday night, giving them two of their first three on this 10-game road trip. After an off day tomorrow, Texas will play a three-game weekend set in Anaheim starting Friday.

The Rangers are now eight games above .500 -- its high-water mark in 2015 -- and are within one game in the loss column of the Astros (72-61), who lost again on Wednesday.
